“Everybody’s doing it”

Wednesday night ”Brick”

Training not only for the Ironman but training/exercising in general has not been some fantastic feat that i mustered up with all of my own self will and determination.  If I were doing this on my own I would not be anywhere near the level of fitness and acomplishment that I am now.  Triathlon is a individual sport but training and learning about the sport has been so much more enjoyable (and successful) since I joined the Pasadena Triathlon Club 2 years ago.  I was introduced to the club thru my Masters swim coach at the time  Rich Strauss who is now my triathlon coach www.cruciblefitness.com .  The first thing I experienced and started to learn right away is group cycling skills, cycling real close together, fast w/less effort because of drafting.  In a typical week I get to group train on; Tuesday mornings I climb a 3 mile climb in Arcadia called Chantry Flats w/ 4-8other riders, Wednesday night Brick work out (not to often for me) which is a 1 hr bike follwed by a 5k run @ the Rose Bowl, Thursday long run 1-2 hours, and Sat morning group ride for 2-4 hours.

Thursday pancake run

Todays Thursday morning long run was promoted as a “pancake run” so we had 8 runners instead of the usual 3to4.

I told Adam, who was late again, that he would be declared the “Man of the Day” on my blog.

Bruce who has been running with me practically every Thursday for 2 years.  David and Lissette at Marstons for pancakes and potatoes, yumm!

Thru the week there are other work outs i do by myself aside from the group ones above.  Guess which ones i miss more often?  To flake on myself is easy.  But to not show when you have said you are going to, or if you are expected to be there each week is much harder.  There is a virtural aspect that keeps me accountable as well and that is i log each work out onto my Training Peaks site for my coach to review.  So if i miss i must humbly enter “did not do”:(  I’ve provided the link below for you to peak into my log to see some of those “did no do’s” and what my did dos look like.  http://www.TrainingPeaks.com/marvinfong

9 days out, tapering, and feeing fine a bit antsy, excited, worried that i might forget something, supposed to make a list of stuff to pack tonight.  thanks for reading.

Blessings, Marvin
