Hello again Greeny

The last pre-race bike service

Friday - I recently serviced my bike for the last time.  Cleaned it up real good last night and got it ready to ship to CDA.  It will be traveling via special bike truck for this event only.  The alternative was to pack and ship via UPS or FEDEX or as oversized check in luggage.  I opted for Bike Transport because it’s convient.  i dropped off at Bike shop in Burbank it will be waiting for me at the race expo on thursday and right after I cross the finish line, when me and my bum will want nothing to do with a bike, i hand if off to them and it appears in Burbank the following week.  But the big thing is that there is no disassembly or reassembly required by me.  Not a pretty pre-race situation for me in my hotel room saying “humm, now where does this thing go on?”

So hello Greeny!  I was known for months in the club as the little Asian guy with the green Felt bike.  Since I’ve been training for IM I ride almost exclusively the black triathlon, time trial, bike.  I rode the road bike out this morning, Tri bike was too clean and already packed in car.  It feels good to be back on the road bike it is so much more responsive and has a more compact in control fit.

Weighed my self today, 128lbs.  I’ve been sub 130 for 3 weeks now, this is at least a 10 year low if not a 13 yr low (pre-marriage).  I was 138lbs in January.  Both my Mom and Mom in-law are concerned.  The standard request from mom “You hungry, want to eat something?” takes on new color and urgency nowadays.  But in spite of their loving concern I’m fine.  I’m eating, eating alot.  Lots of carbs (rice/pasta), clean proteins, fruits and veggies 4-5 times a day.  I’ve cut alot of fried foods, bad fats and simple sugars out of my diet.  The reduction in sweets has been hardest for me.  I am a German-Chocolatey, fudgy, cakey, pasterie, muffin, desert person.  Got the dental fillings to prove it.  I get sweets 1 or 2 times a week now instead of the 6+ previously.

Saturday- Did ride with club today.  This is rare lately because I have had to go long and hard for the last 5 Saturdays to the Long Beach+ and back.  Depending on how much more i tack on at the beach going south in Orange County or if I add additional miles at the end in the foothills (or hills), these rides were 5-6 hours and 70-112 miles usually with very small number of riders that quickly brake up in to individual solo rides.  So it was good to ride normally again and with people.  Haroon and Rich S. were pinching me, taking some kind of crude bodycomp test and saying that I was too skinny.  Ok so i expect the “eat something” hassel from my mom but from my fellow tri buddies?  So I will make sure i get my healthy fill this weekend with Father’s Days gathering on 2 separate days.

Hey Greeny! I’m looking at your pics now and somehow I’m thinking, “How can I join the triathlon club?” :-P
I’m glad you are slowly preparing, making ready, and feeling good for the race of a lifetime. =) Best wishes on your final week before showtime!

Wow man…I feel ya on trying to eat right, not just be exercising…I find that even a more difficult struggle.
Anyway, getting closer and best of luck and blessings to you for your first full ironman. It’s inspirational…and just plain crazy. But then it wouldn’be worth doing if people didn’t think you we half insane.
