Saturday group ride with Pasadean Tri Club
Monday- today i did a short swim at the Monrovia YMCA for the first time in almost 2 months. I’ve been a member here for 2 years. I’m also a member at the brand new yet to open 24 Hr Fitness, and have a Masters swimming membership at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center (month to month May and June only for now). As soon as 24 Hr opens I will cancel my Y membership. I join the RBAC masters to kick my butt into race shape. I enjoy the close proximinity of the Y and the warm indoor pool in the winter. I print my work out and put it in a zip-lock and follow it closely. But the charmingand friendly company at the Y can give me a false sence of speed and strength because at the 6 to7:30 am lap swim I am one of the youngest swimmers. You swimmers know what its like when the 3rd and 4th person show up to a lane and then you have to circle swim hopefully all close to the same pace. But with seniors this can be hard to do to say the least. Now don’t get me wrong I have no problems w/ the seniors swimming, God Bless them for staying fit and doing something healthy its admirable. It’s just me that needs to be patient and accept the condition I voluntarrily put my self into. For the most part it is just fine I can usually be in 2 person lane and if necessary circle swim w/alot of passing. I get humbled at the RBAC Masters swim because I am in lane 1. That means the w/the “slow” swimmers, but at the Masters swim there is no such thing as slow just not as fast as faster and very fast. Hence the butt kicking that I need in the “season”.
After my swim i did a short run w/strides on a pretty walking and bridal trail on the street i live. Went real easy, feeling great. Latest road rash is healing good, just in time for race day. Yes i crashed on my bike twice in the last 30 days. I am a quassi medical expert on treatment. If you ever go down let me know I’ll walk you thru the latest treatment methods. The mantra for the week don’t get sick and don’t get hurt!

No this is not the doctor’s office this is my bathroom setup for over 3 weeks now as i treat road rash from 2 separate crashes.
Kids are excited, their favoraite race so far has been Wildflower because we went up and camped in an RV for 3 days. This one is huge for them because this is our first race to fly to, stay for 7 days and rummer of amusement or water park on the Tuesday after the race. Hope i’m in good enough condition for that!

Father’s day breakfast at Peach Cafe.
Can’t believe I’m 6 days out. Gotten alot of encouragement from club members, friends and relatives i saw at family gatherings and at church this weekend. Its all just so amazing. It is so much more than athletic. I can confidently say the fitness is there, I’m ready. Great coaching and the resulting training sessions took care of that. But its everything else beyond the swim bike and run that is on my mind nowadays. I’ll write about it as i get more philosophical in the next few days. Got to get to that list and start packing.
Yay! I’m so excited for you! I’m eager to hear much more as the day approaches and after you finish.
