(fanily and i at expo, thurs)
Wow, all i can say is that this Ironman race prodiction and what happens to this town is a big deal. it is so beautiful here. i bike the run course on thursday out on CDA lake bl. it was so nice.
(me luis, nicole befreo practice swim, firday)
practive swim, 1 lap, on Friday morn 7am choppy, swallowed water. got a bit shaken up, had bad thoughts, but on the return swim in rod with the little waves and swells. got out and was dizzy a bit sea sick. coffee later was fine.
(Rich, Nicole, Luis, Barry, Lola at clinic)
Rich had clinic on Friday. Rich’s mantra ” the race starts at mile 18 of the run” every thing you do up to then sets up how you will finish. The bike you could do v. the bike you should do. let people be stupid and make mistakes and they will all come back to you. race with, patience, humility, discipline. i ish i had more time to share about how i’m feeling. but i am being rushd on this pubnlic hotel computer. So much emotion and people who i have met and have supported, encouraged, me. getting in touch with old friends thur this blog. my family lovingly worrying about me. some think i’m crazy. well this is what i set out to do 3 years ago i can’t believe its here. honestly, I’m scared, nervous, the 2200 people mass start swim frightens me, the bike is ok but the volume intimidates me. and the pain of the run and the so called “death march” i hear of well that speaks for itself. One of my saving grace is that i am physically prepared its the head that i have to get screwed on in the next 12 hours. The other is that I have confidence in God that he will see me thru this. I will hae strenght thru Him. Lisa who has been such a great support and has sacrificed alot for me to do this has been a blessing to me.
(Erin Jordan with signs)
Erin and Jordan are me biggest cheerleaders. They always ask me after a race “did you win Daddy” cant wait to see them at the finish. oh no i’m getting emotional arleady i stop here sorry for the scattered messy stream of conscousness. thankyou all of you for reading and sharing and being a part of this with me. God Bless you all, Marvin

woo hoo! GO MARVIN!!
Wow! What a week in Couer d’ Alene. All of the athletes, families, press/TV, what excitement building up to the BIG RACE. So cold and windy at the start of the race on Sunday. The mass of swimmers crowding on the beach was a sight to behold, then the gun went off and the swimmers dove head first into the water. I was disappointed not being able to see you Marvin, but with over two thousand athletes, there was no way I would be able to find you. I wonder who was colder, you in the water or we spectators with the temperature at about 50 degrees and the wind blowing at 15 mph or so. Exciting to see you riding your bike up Government Way…it’s a good thing you saw us and waved to us…we would have missed you. Can’t remember how many times we saw you during the race, but the big disappointment was when we miscalculated your speed in the Marathon and missed seeing you cross the finish line. Mom and I are soooo proud of you!!
Dad
Man, I get teary eyed just reading this! So awesome, so costly…but so worth it in the end. Ain’t nothing gonna take away that finish!
Praise God!
Erin and Jordan were very supprotive of you during this.
